About

I recently embarked on a change of direction after working as a freelance journalist for the best part of ten years for various British papers and magazines. Some highlights included joining a team of Royal Marines on a 500 mile cross-country ski expedition across Norway, joining the explorer Pen Hadow in the 24hr darkness of an Arctic winter and descending the rivers Paraguay and Parana with the inimitable Col John Blashford-Snell.

In between I managed dozens of shorter trips that involved everything from learning to freedive to bob skeleton. But in the autumn of 2011 an amazing opportunity came along to live and work among the mountains and lakes of Austria’s Salzkammagut region and I jumped at the chance. Most of the trips I did rarely lasted longer than a few days so basing myself in one area that I can slowly explore at my own leisure was highly attractive.
So during working hours this means I can be found at www.zooom.at where I look after the media relations for various outdoor brands. I haven’t given up writing just yet, but I’m no longer chasing regular commissions.

You can see some of my movie clips on youtube and some of my pictures on Flickr
